Psalm 114, We have no excuse!

Psa 114:1, When Israel went out of Egypt, The house of Jacob from a people of strange language

After 400 years in a foreign land, Israel was taken out by the strength of GOD! THIS IS A FORESHADOWING OF WHAT JESUS DID FOR US ON THE CROSS. THIS IS NOT OUR HOME

Php 3:20, FOR OUR CITIZENSHIP IS IN HEAVEN, from which WE ALSO EAGERLY WAIT FOR THE SAVIOR, THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, 

Psa 114:2, JUDAH BECAME HIS SANCTUARY, AND ISRAEL HIS DOMINION. 

Judah represents all of Israel, but it hints at the LION of the tribe of Judah which is JESUS! GOD is with Israel even today, as HE is with us! WE BECAME HIS SANCTUARY FOR HE DWELLS WITH US, HE IS ALWAYS WITH US!

2Co 6:16, …. FOR YOU ARE THE TEMPLE OF THE LIVING GOD. As God has said: “I WILL DWELL IN THEM AND WALK AMONG THEM. I WILL BE THEIR GOD, AND THEY SHALL BE MY PEOPLE.” 

Psa 114:3, 5, THE SEA SAW IT AND FLED; JORDAN TURNED BACK…. WHAT AILS YOU, O SEA, THAT YOU FLED? O JORDAN, THAT YOU TURNED BACK? 

Even the water and it’s tremendous waves obeyed the LORD! They were afraid of the LORD and moved out of HIS way!

Psa 77:16, The waters saw You, O God; The waters saw You, they were afraid; The depths also trembled. 

Nature recognized HIS presence how much more should we recognize the LORD!

Mat 8:27, So the men marveled, saying, “WHO CAN THIS BE, THAT EVEN THE WINDS AND THE SEA OBEY HIM?” 

HE IS THE LORD, OUR GOD, OBEY HIM AND TRUST IN HIM!

Psalm 113, worthy to be praised!

Psa 113:2-3, Blessed be the name of the LORD From this time forth and forevermore! FROM THE RISING OF THE SUN TO ITS GOING DOWN THE LORD’S NAME IS TO BE PRAISED.

The LORD is worthy of continual prayer! If we knew all that HE has done for us we would be completely amazed!

Ecc 3:11b, …Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that NO ONE CAN FIND OUT THE WORK THAT GOD DOES FROM BEGINNING TO END.

Rom 11:33, Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! HOW UNSEARCHABLE ARE HIS JUDGMENTS AND HIS WAYS PAST FINDING OUT! 

Psa 113:4-5, The LORD is high above all nations, His glory above the heavens. Who is like the LORD our God, Who dwells on high,

HE can’t be compared to anyone or anything! HE is the Creator of all, who knows all and sees all! THERE IS NO-ONE LIKE OUR GOD!

Jer 10:6, INASMUCH AS THERE IS NONE LIKE YOU, O LORD (You are great, and Your name is great in might), 

Psa 113:6, WHO HUMBLES HIMSELF TO BEHOLD THE THINGS THAT ARE IN THE HEAVENS AND IN THE EARTH? 

The psalmist is amazed that GOD is exalted so high yet HE stoops down low to see and take care of HIS creation! HE ALSO SENT HIS ONLY SON, CLOTHED HIM IN FLESH, TO DIED ON THE CROSS FOR US! AMAZING LOVE!

Joh 3:16, FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, THAT WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM SHOULD NOT PERISH BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE. 

Psa 113:7-8, He raises the POOR out of the dust, And lifts the NEEDY out of the ash heap, THAT HE MAY SEAT HIM WITH PRINCES—WITH THE PRINCES OF HIS PEOPLE.

HE takes the lowest of people and raises them up to sit with kings and rulers; EVEN THE KING OF kings and LORD of lords!

Eph 2:5-6, even when WE WERE DEAD IN TRESPASSES, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), AND RAISED US UP TOGETHER, AND MADE US SIT TOGETHER IN THE HEAVENLY PLACES IN CHRIST JESUS,

HE IS AND WILL ALWAYS BE WORTHY TO BE PRAISED!

Psalm 112, Trust in the LORD!

Psa 112:1, Praise the LORD! BLESSED IS THE MAN WHO FEARS THE LORD, WHO DELIGHTS GREATLY IN HIS COMMANDMENTS.

It doesn’t say, blessed is the man who is scared of the LORD, that would be common sense! Blessed in the man who reveres the LORD and does what HE commands to do!

Luk 1:50, And HIS MERCY IS ON THOSE WHO FEAR HIM From generation to generation. 

Psa 112:2-3, His descendants will be mighty on earth; The generation of the upright will be blessed. Wealth and riches will be in his house, And his righteousness endures forever.

The man who reveres the LORD his family will be blessed! Wealth and riches will be in his house, BECAUSE THEIR FATHER, THE LORD, OWNS EVERYTHING, AND SUPPLIES HIS OWN!

Psa 37:25, I have been young, and now am old; YET I HAVE NOT SEEN THE RIGHTEOUS FORSAKEN, NOR HIS DESCENDANTS BEGGING BREAD. 

Psa 112:4, Unto the upright there arises light in the darkness; He is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.

In times of great uncertainty, and darkness, those that revere the LORD will still rejoice knowing their FATHER is in full control! HE IS OUR LIGHT, HE IS OUR HOPE, HE IS OUR STRENGTH, AND SAVIOR!  JESUS SAID..

Joh 12:46, I HAVE COME AS A LIGHT INTO THE WORLD, THAT WHOEVER BELIEVES IN ME SHOULD NOT ABIDE IN DARKNESS. 

Psa 112:7, He will not be afraid of evil tidings; His heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD.

The upright will not be afraid of bad news (evil tidings) for his hearth is set on the ROCK, and shall not be moved!

Psa 62:5-6, My soul, wait silently for God alone, FOR MY EXPECTATION IS FROM HIM. HE ONLY IS MY ROCK AND MY SALVATION; HE IS MY DEFENSE; I SHALL NOT BE MOVED.

This is not about us it’s about the LORD and what HE has done for us! We are righteous because HE has removed our filthy garments and replaced them with HIS own! Put your trust in the LORD!

Isa 61:10, I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, My soul shall be joyful in my God; FOR HE HAS CLOTHED ME WITH THE GARMENTS OF SALVATION, HE HAS COVERED ME WITH THE ROBE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, …

Psalm 111, Study HIS word!

Psa 111:1, Praise the LORD! I will praise the LORD with my WHOLE HEART, IN THE ASSEMBLY OF THE UPRIGHT AND IN THE CONGREGATION. 

The day is coming, the day is near when the assembly of saints will be gathered together IN THE WORSHIP OF OUR KING, WORSHIPPING HIM WITH ALL WE HAVE!

Psa 149:1, Praise the LORD! Sing to the LORD a new song, And His praise in the assembly of saints. 

Psa 111:2, THE WORKS OF THE LORD ARE GREAT, STUDIED BY ALL WHO HAVE PLEASURE IN THEM. 

The Bible is studied by Pastors, scientist, archaeologist, and those seeking the truth of GOD! Archaeologist in Israel have found out that their most trusted source of information comes directly from the Bible!

Psa 111:3-4, HIS WORK IS HONORABLE AND GLORIOUS, AND HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS ENDURES FOREVER. HE HAS MADE HIS WONDERFUL WORKS TO BE REMEMBERED; THE LORD IS GRACIOUS AND FULL OF COMPASSION.

HIS ways are perfect, while we fall short on every level! We make statements saying the LORD will do this, and HE will do that, but we use our limited knowledge and foresight! HE ALWAYS DOES WHAT’S BEST EVEN FOR HE KNOWS THE OUTCOME OF THE MATTER!

Isa 44:7, And WHO CAN PROCLAIM AS I DO? Then let him declare it and set it in order for ME, SINCE I APPOINTED the ancient people. AND THE THINGS THAT ARE COMING AND SHALL COME, LET THEM SHOW THESE TO THEM. 

We may not understand all that happening now, but rest assured HE IS COMPLETE CONTROL! WHILE HATERS HATE, AND DOUBTERS DOUBT ONE DAY ALL THINGS WILL BE UNDER HIS FEET!

Psa 111:10, The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do His commandments. His praise endures forever. 

Job said it best

Job 28:28, And to man He said, ‘BEHOLD, THE FEAR OF THE LORD, THAT IS WISDOM, AND TO DEPART FROM EVIL IS UNDERSTANDING.’

Psalm 110, HE SHALL REIGN!

Psa 110:1, THE LORD SAID TO MY LORD,”SIT AT MY RIGHT HAND, TILL I MAKE YOUR ENEMIES YOUR FOOTSTOOL.”

The Pharisees gathered together, JESUS asked them “What do you think about the CHRIST? Whose SON is HE”? They replied the SON of David! Then JESUS said

Mat 22:43-45, HE said to them, “How then does David in the Spirit call HIM ‘LORD,’ saying: ‘THE LORD SAID TO MY LORD, “SIT AT MY RIGHT HAND, TILL I MAKE YOUR ENEMIES YOUR FOOTSTOOL” ‘? If David then calls Him ‘LORD,’ HOW IS HE HIS SON?”

They couldn’t answer but we can! JESUS is in the lineage of David, YET HE is LORD the SON of the living GOD! Also, David being king shows that at least two others are greater than he!

Heb 1:3, who being the brightness of His glory and the EXPRESS IMAGE OF HIS PERSON, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when HE HAD BY HIMSELF PURGED OUR SINS, SAT DOWN AT THE RIGHT HAND OF THE MAJESTY ON HIGH,

JESUS is co-equal to GOD the expressed image of the FATHER!

Heb 1:8-9, But to the SON HE says: “YOUR THRONE, O GOD, IS FOREVER AND EVER; A SCEPTER OF RIGHTEOUSNESS IS THE SCEPTER OF YOUR KINGDOM. YOU HAVE LOVED RIGHTEOUSNESS AND HATED LAWLESSNESS; THEREFORE GOD, YOUR GOD, HAS ANOINTED YOU….

Psa 110:1b, … SIT AT MY RIGHT HAND, TILL I MAKE YOUR ENEMIES YOUR FOOTSTOOL.” 

Paul wrote that HE will reign until the last of HIS enemies are destroyed including death! Then HE hands everything over to the FATHER!

1Co 15:24-26, THEN COMES THE END, WHEN HE DELIVERS THE KINGDOM TO GOD THE FATHER, when He puts an end to all rule and all authority and power FOR HE MUST REIGN TILL HE HAS PUT ALL ENEMIES UNDER HIS FEET. THE LAST ENEMY THAT WILL BE DESTROYED IS DEATH.

The Father is working through HIS word until all things are under HIS SON’s control!

Isa 55:11, So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. 

This is an amazing Psalm and I only focused on one verse! There is so much here! GOD be praised!

Psalm 109, the Volume of the book is written of ME!

Psa 109:3-4, They have also surrounded me with words of hatred, AND FOUGHT AGAINST ME WITHOUT A CAUSE. IN RETURN FOR MY LOVE THEY ARE MY ACCUSERS, BUT I GIVE MYSELF TO PRAYER.

A prophetic psalm of David! JESUS went around doing good, healing the sick, giving sight to the blind, teaching truth etc.

Act 10:38, how God anointed JESUS of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, WHO WENT ABOUT DOING GOOD AND HEALING ALL WHO WERE OPPRESSED BY THE DEVIL, FOR GOD WAS WITH HIM.

YET, they wanted to stone HIM!

Joh 10:32, Jesus answered them, “Many good works I have shown you from My Father. For which of those works do you STONE ME?” 

But ended up crucified on the cross of Calvary praying for those that betrayed them!

Luk 23:34, Then Jesus said, “FATHER, FORGIVE THEM, FOR THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY DO.” …

Psa 109:5, Thus they have REWARDED ME EVIL FOR GOOD, AND HATRED FOR MY LOVE.  

JESUS called Judas friend, but Judas betrayed HIM with a kiss!

Mat 26:49-50, Immediately he went up to JESUS and said, “Greetings, Rabbi!” AND KISSED HIM. But JESUS said to him, “Friend, why have you come?” Then they came and laid hands on JESUS and took Him.

Pro 27:6, FAITHFUL ARE THE WOUNDS OF A FRIEND, BUT THE KISSES OF AN ENEMY ARE DECEITFUL. 

Psa 109:8, Let his days be few, AND LET ANOTHER TAKE HIS OFFICE. 

Peter quoted these same words in Acts 1:20 to have Judas position, as an Apostle, replaced by another!

Act 1:20, “For it is written in the Book of Psalms: ‘LET HIS DWELLING PLACE BE DESOLATE, AND LET NO ONE LIVE IN IT’; and, ‘LET ANOTHER TAKE HIS OFFICE.’ 

The whole Bible is written of JESUS, Old and New! This is HIS story written before HE was Even born! Psalm 40:7, “THE SCROLL OF THE BOOK IS WRITTEN OF ME”!

Heb 10:7, THEN I SAID, ‘BEHOLD, I HAVE COME—IN THE VOLUME OF THE BOOK IT IS WRITTEN OF ME—TO DO YOUR WILL, O GOD.’

Psalm 108, HIS great love for us!

Psa 108:1-2, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and give praise, even with my glory. Awake, lute and harp! I will awaken the dawn.

The heart of king David was confident in GOD alone! He knew where his help came from! It wasn’t from man but GOD HIMSELF!

Psa 121:1-2, I will lift up my eyes to the hills—FROM WHENCE COMES MY HELP? MY HELP COMES FROM THE LORD, WHO MADE HEAVEN AND EARTH.

David was a talented musician who would wake up every morning to sing praises to the KING OF kings! The LORD was with him!

Psa 108:5-6, Be exalted, O God, above the heavens, And Your glory above all the earth; THAT YOUR BELOVED MAY BE DELIVERED, Save with Your right hand, and hear me.

David was confident in the LORD, and also, he knew that the LORD loved him! He called himself “beloved” Just like JOHN

Joh 21:20, Then Peter, turning around, SAW THE DISCIPLE WHOM JESUS LOVED FOLLOWING, WHO ALSO HAD LEANED ON HIS BREAST AT THE SUPPER…

This is not arrogance but it’s a true statement! Both David and John were beloved of GOD! Yet you can add many, many others to that list!

Dan 9:23, At the beginning of your supplications the command went out, and I have come to tell you, FOR YOU ARE GREATLY BELOVED..

Do you know that you are loved by GOD HIMSELF? Even with all your faults HE is still in love with you!

Rom 1:7, To ALL who are in Rome, BELOVED OF GOD, CALLED TO BE SAINTS: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Rom 8:38-39, For I am persuaded that Neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, SHALL BE ABLE TO SEPARATE US FROM THE LOVE OF GOD WHICH IS IN CHRIST JESUS OUR LORD.

Joh 3:16, FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, THAT WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM SHOULD NOT PERISH BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE.

Our sins are great, yet HIS love is greater! Trust in the LORD for HE loves you!

Psalm 107, What is your story!

Psa 107:4-5, THEY WANDERED IN THE WILDERNESS IN A DESOLATE WAY; They found no city to dwell in. HUNGRY AND THIRSTY, THEIR SOUL FAINTED IN THEM.

THE WANDERER was completely lost in sin and no where to go! Hungry and thirsty and nowhere to turn!

Psa 107:6-7, THEN THEY CRIED OUT TO THE LORD in their trouble, And He delivered them out of their distresses. AND HE LED THEM FORTH BY THE RIGHT WAY, THAT THEY MIGHT GO TO A CITY FOR A DWELLING PLACE.

Psa 107:10-11, Those who SAT IN DARKNESS and in the shadow of death, BOUND IN AFFLICTION and IRONS— Because they rebelled against the words of God, And despised the counsel of the Most High,

THE PRISONER, bound in the chains of sin and desperation, dwelling in darkness

Psa 107:13-14, THEN THEY CRIED OUT TO THE LORD IN THEIR TROUBLE, And He saved them out of their distresses. He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, AND BROKE THEIR CHAINS IN PIECES.

HE can break the strongest, gates, bars and chains and bring you out in HIS light!

Psa 107:17-18, Fools, because of their transgression, And because of their iniquities, WERE AFFLICTED. THEIR SOUL ABHORRED ALL MANNER OF FOOD, AND THEY DREW NEAR TO THE GATES OF DEATH.

THE SICK rejected the milk and meat of the word of GOD which gives strength to the weary! They were dying without it, near death!

Psa 107:19-20, THEN THEY CRIED OUT TO THE LORD IN THEIR TROUBLE, And He saved them out of their distresses. HE SENT HIS WORD AND HEALED THEM, AND DELIVERED THEM FROM THEIR DESTRUCTIONS.

HIS word has the power to heal!

Psa 107:25-27, For He commands and raises the stormy wind, Which lifts up the waves of the sea. … Their soul melts because of trouble. They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, And are at their wits’ end.

TRIALS! In the middle of a severe trial which seems to have no end!

Psa 107:28-29, THEN THEY CRY OUT TO THE LORD IN THEIR TROUBLE, AND HE BRINGS THEM OUT OF THEIR DISTRESSES. HE CALMS THE STORM, SO THAT ITS WAVES ARE STILL.

WHAT IS YOUR STORY? WHERE WERE YOU WHEN YOU CALLED OUT TO HIM? WITHOUT HIM, WE ARE LOST, IN CHAINS, SICK, AND IN TROUBLE; BUT, HE HAS THE POWER TO SAVE!

Psalm 107: 8, 15, 21, 31, OH, THAT MEN WOULD GIVE THANKS TO THE LORD FOR HIS GOODNESS, AND FOR HIS WONDERFUL WORKS TO THE CHILDREN OF MEN!

Psalm 106, Faith without seeing!

Psa 106:2, Who can utter the mighty acts of the LORD? Who can declare ALL HIS PRAISE? 

The simple answer is no one! It is impossible to declare all HIS praises; for we see only the edges of HIS glory ( Job 26:14 )

Psa 139:6, Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain it. 

Psa 106:7, Our fathers in Egypt did not understand Your wonders; They did not remember the multitude of Your mercies, BUT REBELLED BY THE SEA—THE RED SEA. 

All of Israel saw the plagues that hit Egypt and how GOD protected them! A total of ten plagues, YET rebelled against the LORD!

Ex 14:11, Then they said to Moses, … HAVE YOU TAKEN US AWAY TO DIE IN THE WILDERNESS?…

Psa 106:8-9, NEVERTHELESS HE SAVED THEM FOR HIS NAME’S SAKE, That He might make His mighty power known. HE REBUKED THE RED SEA ALSO, AND IT DRIED UP; SO HE LED THEM THROUGH THE DEPTHS, AS THROUGH THE WILDERNESS.

YET GOD saved them even in their rebellion and showed them HIS great power and mercy!

Psa 106:12, THEN THEY BELIEVED HIS WORDS; They sang His praise.

Seeing is believing, but faith is believing without seeing! Like Thomas, Israel had to see before they could believe!

Joh 20:29, Jesus said to him, “Thomas, BECAUSE YOU HAVE SEEN ME, YOU HAVE BELIEVED. BLESSED ARE THOSE WHO HAVE NOT SEEN AND YET HAVE BELIEVED.”

Psa 106:13-14, THEY SOON FORGOT HIS WORKS; They did not wait for His counsel, But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, And TESTED GOD IN THE DESERT.

So many people praise GOD when they see HIS miracles, HIS provisions, HIS work! YET, at the sign of any trial THEY FORGET WHAT HE HAS DONE IN THEIR LIVES! WE ARE FICKLED PEOPLE WHO CHANGE DEPENDING ON THE SITUATION!

2Ti 2:13, If we are faithless, HE REMAINS FAITHFUL; He cannot deny Himself. 

Do you believe only when you see, Thomas? Remember while we are faithless, HE remains faithful!

1Th 5:24, HE WHO CALLS YOU IS FAITHFUL, WHO ALSO WILL DO IT.

Psalm 105, Seeking the LORD!

Psa 105:1-2, Oh, GIVE THANKS TO THE LORD! CALL UPON HIS NAME; MAKE KNOWN HIS DEEDS AMONG THE PEOPLES! … TALK OF ALL HIS WONDROUS WORKS! 

As Christians, we have all experience HIS blessings in our lives! We must make them known to all those willing to hear! Even king Nebuchadnezzar made known HIS works!

Dan 4:2, I thought it good to declare the signs and wonders that the MOST HIGH GOD HAS WORKED FOR ME.

Psa 105:3, GLORY IN HIS HOLY NAME; Let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the LORD! 

So many people glory in their strength, their money, their position, but the LORD says!

Jer 9:23-24, Thus says the LORD: “Let not the wise man glory in his WISDOM, Let not the mighty man glory in his MIGHT, Nor let the rich man glory in his RICHES; BUT LET HIM WHO GLORIES GLORY IN THIS, THAT HE UNDERSTANDS AND KNOWS ME, ….

Psa 105:4, SEEK THE LORD AND HIS STRENGTH; SEEK HIS FACE EVERMORE! 

Those that seek HIM will find HIM, but the opposite is also true! James tells us “DRAW NEAR TO GOD AND HE WILL DRAW NEAR TO YOU (Jam 4:8)! HE WAITS ON YOU!

Jer 29:13, AND YOU WILL SEEK ME AND FIND ME, WHEN YOU SEARCH FOR ME WITH ALL YOUR HEART. 

Psa 105:5, REMEMBER HIS MARVELOUS WORKS WHICH HE HAS DONE, HIS WONDERS, and the judgments of His mouth, 

When trials come, and they will, ALWAYS REMEMBER WHAT HE HAS DONE IN THE PAST! How HE lifted you up in your time of need! How HE opened doors that you didn’t even see! YET, THE BIGGEST THING TO REMEMBER IS WHAT HE DID FOR YOU ON THE CROSS OF CALVARY!

Luk 22:19, And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, SAYING, “THIS IS MY BODY WHICH IS GIVEN FOR YOU; DO THIS IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME.” 

Rom 4:7-8, “BLESSED ARE THOSE WHOSE LAWLESS DEEDS ARE FORGIVEN, AND WHOSE SINS ARE COVERED; BLESSED IS THE MAN TO WHOM THE LORD SHALL NOT IMPUTE SIN.”
