Psalm 106, Faith without seeing!

Psa 106:2, Who can utter the mighty acts of the LORD? Who can declare ALL HIS PRAISE? 

The simple answer is no one! It is impossible to declare all HIS praises; for we see only the edges of HIS glory ( Job 26:14 )

Psa 139:6, Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain it. 

Psa 106:7, Our fathers in Egypt did not understand Your wonders; They did not remember the multitude of Your mercies, BUT REBELLED BY THE SEA—THE RED SEA. 

All of Israel saw the plagues that hit Egypt and how GOD protected them! A total of ten plagues, YET rebelled against the LORD!

Ex 14:11, Then they said to Moses, … HAVE YOU TAKEN US AWAY TO DIE IN THE WILDERNESS?…

Psa 106:8-9, NEVERTHELESS HE SAVED THEM FOR HIS NAME’S SAKE, That He might make His mighty power known. HE REBUKED THE RED SEA ALSO, AND IT DRIED UP; SO HE LED THEM THROUGH THE DEPTHS, AS THROUGH THE WILDERNESS.

YET GOD saved them even in their rebellion and showed them HIS great power and mercy!

Psa 106:12, THEN THEY BELIEVED HIS WORDS; They sang His praise.

Seeing is believing, but faith is believing without seeing! Like Thomas, Israel had to see before they could believe!

Joh 20:29, Jesus said to him, “Thomas, BECAUSE YOU HAVE SEEN ME, YOU HAVE BELIEVED. BLESSED ARE THOSE WHO HAVE NOT SEEN AND YET HAVE BELIEVED.”

Psa 106:13-14, THEY SOON FORGOT HIS WORKS; They did not wait for His counsel, But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, And TESTED GOD IN THE DESERT.

So many people praise GOD when they see HIS miracles, HIS provisions, HIS work! YET, at the sign of any trial THEY FORGET WHAT HE HAS DONE IN THEIR LIVES! WE ARE FICKLED PEOPLE WHO CHANGE DEPENDING ON THE SITUATION!

2Ti 2:13, If we are faithless, HE REMAINS FAITHFUL; He cannot deny Himself. 

Do you believe only when you see, Thomas? Remember while we are faithless, HE remains faithful!

1Th 5:24, HE WHO CALLS YOU IS FAITHFUL, WHO ALSO WILL DO IT.

Psalm 78, We need faith!

Psa 78:14-15, In the daytime also He led them with the cloud, And all the night with a light of fire. He split the rocks in the wilderness, And gave them drink in abundance like the depths.

By HIS mighty hand, HE led Israel day and night! When they were thirsty, HE brought water from a rock and quenched their thirst!

Psa 78:17-18, BUT THEY SINNED EVEN MORE AGAINST HIM BY REBELLING AGAINST THE MOST HIGH IN THE WILDERNESS. AND THEY TESTED GOD IN THEIR HEART BY ASKING FOR THE FOOD OF THEIR FANCY.

Israel was on a road trip to their new homeland guided by GOD! YET, they tested GOD! Can GOD do this, can HE do that!

Psa 78:19-20, Yes, they spoke against God: They said, “CAN GOD PREPARE A TABLE IN THE WILDERNESS? …. CAN HE GIVE BREAD ALSO? CAN HE PROVIDE MEAT FOR HIS PEOPLE?”

Num 11:21,23 And Moses said, “The people whom I am among are SIX HUNDRED THOUSAND MEN ON FOOT; yet You have said, ‘I WILL GIVE THEM MEAT, THAT THEY MAY EAT FOR A WHOLE MONTH.’ …. And the LORD said to Moses, “HAS THE LORD’S ARM BEEN SHORTENED? NOW YOU SHALL SEE WHETHER WHAT I SAY WILL HAPPEN TO YOU OR NOT.” 

We as humans tend to limit GOD who created all things by HIS breath! Even when it’s impossible for us, Remember HE is not limited!

Luk 18:27, But He said, “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.” 

HE gave them the bread they desired “Manna”, and the meat they craved for, BUT THEIR HEARTS STILL DOUBTED THE LORD!

Psa 78:37, FOR THEIR HEART WAS NOT STEADFAST WITH HIM, NOR WERE THEY FAITHFUL IN HIS COVENANT.

Psa 78:41, Yes, again and again they tempted God, AND LIMITED THE HOLY ONE OF ISRAEL. 

OUR LACK OF FAITH LIMITS WHAT GOD CAN DO FOR US AND THROUGH US! REMEMBER JESUS WHEN HE WENT TO NAZARETH!

Mat 13:58, Now HE did not do many mighty works there BECAUSE OF THEIR UNBELIEF. 

Heb 11:6, BUT WITHOUT FAITH IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PLEASE HIM, FOR HE WHO COMES TO GOD MUST BELIEVE THAT HE IS, AND THAT HE IS A REWARDER OF THOSE WHO DILIGENTLY SEEK HIM.

Psalm 31, HE is faithful!

Psa 31:1, …In You, O LORD, I PUT MY TRUST; LET ME NEVER BE ASHAMED; Deliver me in Your righteousness. 

Because of your faith many people will mock you in times of trouble; ISN’T HE A CHRISTIAN, WHERE IS THE GOD WHO HE TRUSTED IN? He believes in GOD, yet he can’t find work, he can’t support his own family! Even JESUS on the cross was mocked!

Mat 27:43, HE TRUSTED IN GOD; LET HIM DELIVER HIM NOW if He will have Him; FOR HE SAID, ‘I AM THE SON OF GOD.’ ” 

Psa 31:2-3, Bow down Your ear to me, DELIVER ME SPEEDILY; Be my rock of refuge, A fortress of defense to SAVE ME. For You are my rock and my fortress; THEREFORE, FOR YOUR NAME’S SAKE, Lead me and guide me.

LORD, as they mock me they also mock YOU; FOR THE HONOR OF YOUR NAME save me!

When I was laid off from work, I remember my family telling me, “you still don’t have a job”!  I told them “IN HIS TIME THE LORD WILL PROVIDE”! They turned away and laughed, YET MY FAITHFUL AND AWESOME GOD DID OPEN DOORS FOR ME AND MY FAMILY!  ALL GLORY TO HIM FOR HE IS FAITHFUL!

Deu 7:9, “Therefore know that the LORD your God, He is God, THE FAITHFUL GOD WHO KEEPS COVENANT AND MERCY FOR A THOUSAND GENERATIONS WITH THOSE WHO LOVE HIM AND KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS; 

Do you know that HE honors HIS promises, and YOUR FAITH IN HIM?

Heb 11:6, But without FAITH it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Psa 31:23-24, Oh, LOVE THE LORD, ALL YOU HIS SAINTS! FOR THE LORD PRESERVES THE FAITHFUL, And fully repays the proud person. BE OF GOOD COURAGE, AND HE SHALL STRENGTHEN YOUR HEART, ALL YOU WHO HOPE IN THE LORD.

IN TIMES OF TROUBLE AND IN TIMES OF JOY STAND ON THE SOLID GROUND OF HIS WORD! FOR HE IS NOT A MAN THAT HE SHOULD LIE! SEEK AND HAVE FAITH IN HIM FOR HE IS FAITHFUL TO THOSE THAT LOVE HIM!

Psalm 16, We shall be like HIM!

Psa 16:1-2, … PRESERVE ME, O GOD, FOR IN YOU I PUT MY TRUST. O my soul, you have said to the LORD, “YOU ARE MY LORD, MY GOODNESS IS NOTHING APART FROM YOU.”

DAVID TRUSTED IN THE LORD, AND APART FROM HIM LIFE MEANS NOTHING! ALL THE GOOD DAVID CAN DO WILL BE FORGOTTEN WITHOUT GOD; BUT, IN HIM, EVEN A GLASS OF WATER GOD WILL REWARD!

Mar 9:41, FOR WHOEVER GIVES YOU A CUP OF WATER TO DRINK IN MY NAME, BECAUSE YOU BELONG TO CHRIST, ASSUREDLY, I SAY TO YOU, HE WILL BY NO MEANS LOSE HIS REWARD.  

Psa 16:3, AS FOR THE SAINTS WHO ARE ON THE EARTH, “THEY ARE THE EXCELLENT ONES, IN WHOM IS ALL MY DELIGHT.” 

SAINTS ARE THOSE BEING SANCTIFIED BY COMING TO CHRIST JESUS! DAVID DELIGHTED OVER THE SAINTS OF HIS TIME; DO WE DELIGHT IN OUR BROTHERS IN THE LORD? EACH WITH THEIR UNIQUE GIFTS CAN FORM A POWERFUL CHURCH IN HIS NAME!

1Pe 4:10, AS EACH ONE HAS RECEIVED A GIFT, MINISTER IT TO ONE ANOTHER, AS GOOD STEWARDS OF THE MANIFOLD GRACE OF GOD. 

Psa 16:9-10, Therefore my HEART IS GLAD, and my glory rejoices; MY FLESH ALSO WILL REST IN HOPE. FOR YOU WILL NOT LEAVE MY SOUL IN SHEOL, NOR WILL YOU ALLOW YOUR HOLY ONE TO SEE CORRUPTION.

David could rest and rejoice knowing that in his death GOD will be there to take care of him! DEATH TO MANY IS THE END OF ALL THINGS, BUT THATS JUST A MERE ILLUSION! IN REALITY IT’S THE BEGINNING OF LIFE IN HIS PRESENCE!

2Cor 5:7-8, FOR WE WALK BY FAITH, NOT BY SIGHT. WE ARE CONFIDENT, yes, well pleased rather TO BE ABSENT FROM THE BODY AND TO BE PRESENT WITH THE LORD.

JESUS ON THE CROSS HAD VICTORY OVER DEATH AND THE FATHER DIDN’T ALLOW CORRUPTION TO COME NEAR HIM! SINCE HE LIVES, WE SHALL ALSO LIVE AND WE WILL BE LIKE HIM! ONE DAY SOON!

1Jn 3:2, Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed WHAT WE SHALL BE, but we know that WHEN HE IS REVEALED, WE SHALL BE LIKE HIM, FOR WE SHALL SEE HIM AS HE IS.

Psalm 3, True faith is greater than your circumstances!

Psa 3:1-2, A Psalm of David When He Fled from Absalom His Son. LORD, HOW THEY HAVE INCREASED WHO TROUBLE ME! MANY ARE THEY WHO RISE UP AGAINST ME. MANY ARE THEY WHO SAY OF ME, “THERE IS NO HELP FOR HIM IN GOD.” Selah

David’s own son rebelled against him, and the men of Israel turned on their king (2Sa 15:13 & 2Sa 16:8)! Many believed or felt like David lost favor with GOD! IT’S NOT HOW YOU FEEL OR HOW IT LOOKS TO OTHERS ON THE OUTSIDE; IN GOD THERE IS ALWAYS HOPE FOR THOSE WHO LOVE HIM!

Rom 8:31, …IF GOD IS FOR US, WHO CAN BE AGAINST US? 

Psa 3:3-4, But You, O LORD, ARE A SHIELD FOR ME, MY GLORY AND THE ONE WHO LIFTS UP MY HEAD. I CRIED TO THE LORD WITH MY VOICE, AND HE HEARD ME FROM HIS HOLY HILL. Selah

David’s true strength came from knowing his GOD, IT’S NOT ABOUT FEELINGS! WHEN YOU KNOW YOUR GOD, AS DAVID DID, THEN YOU WILL REALIZE THAT NO MATTER WHERE YOUR AT HE WILL ALWAYS HERE YOU FOR HE PROMISED TO ALWAYS BE WITH THEM WHEREVER THEY MAY GO! HE IS FAITHFUL!

Jos 1:9, HAVE I NOT COMMANDED YOU? BE STRONG AND OF GOOD COURAGE; DO NOT BE AFRAID, NOR BE DISMAYED, FOR THE LORD YOUR GOD IS WITH YOU WHEREVER YOU GO.” 

We have the same promises that David did! DO YOU BELIEVE IT? DO YOU KNOW THAT HE IS FAITHFUL TO HIS WORD?

Num 23:19, “GOD IS NOT A MAN, THAT HE SHOULD LIE, NOR A SON OF MAN, THAT HE SHOULD REPENT. HAS HE SAID, AND WILL HE NOT DO? Or HAS HE SPOKEN, AND WILL HE NOT MAKE IT GOOD? 

Psa 89:34-35, MY COVENANT I WILL NOT BREAK, NOR ALTER THE WORD THAT HAS GONE OUT OF MY LIPS. ONCE I HAVE SWORN BY MY HOLINESS; I WILL NOT LIE TO DAVID:

NOR WILL HE LIE TO ANYONE! AS THE WORLD SEEMS TO BE CRUMBLING BEFORE YOUR VERY EYES, LEAN ON THE ONE WHO HAS THE FINAL WORD ON THE MATTER! LEAN NOT ON YOUR FEELING OR UNDERSTANDING, BUT ON THE KING OF kings and LORD OF lords!

Job 42, Reunion in Heaven!

Job 42:1,5-6, THEN JOB ANSWERED THE LORD AND SAID: ….”I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear, But now my eye sees You. THEREFORE I ABHOR MYSELF, AND REPENT IN DUST AND ASHES.”

Job basically said, “I TAKE BACK WHAT I HAVE SAID, AND I REPENT BEFORE MY MAKER”! Before he heard and read about GOD, BUT NOW HE SEES HIS PRESENCE IN THE WHIRLWIND!

Psa 51:17, The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, A broken and a contrite heart—These, O God, You will not despise.

Job 42:7, And so it was, after the LORD had spoken these words to Job, THAT THE LORD SAID TO ELIPHAZ THE TEMANITE, “MY WRATH IS AROUSED AGAINST YOU AND YOUR TWO FRIENDS, FOR YOU HAVE NOT SPOKEN OF ME WHAT IS RIGHT, AS MY SERVANT JOB HAS. 

Job’s three friends are now scared for they have seen the wrath that Job endured, and NOW HIS WRATH IS ON THEM!

Heb 10:30-31, For we know Him who said, “VENGEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY,” says the Lord. And again, “THE LORD WILL JUDGE HIS PEOPLE.” IT IS A FEARFUL THING TO FALL INTO THE HANDS OF THE LIVING GOD.

Job 42:10, And the LORD restored Job’s losses WHEN he prayed for his friends. INDEED THE LORD GAVE JOB TWICE AS MUCH AS HE HAD BEFORE.

IF YOU COMPARE JOB 1:3 TO JOB 42:12, YOU WILL FIND THAT INDEED GOD GAVE JOB DOUBLE OF WHAT HE HAD BEFORE! BUT WHAT ABOUT HIS CHILDREN?

Job 1:2, AND SEVEN SONS AND THREE DAUGHTERS WERE BORN TO HIM. 

Job 42:13, HE ALSO HAD SEVEN SONS AND THREE DAUGHTERS.

You see, Job never lost the first 10 children, and in Heaven he is with all 20 of his kids! ONE DAY WE WILL EXPERIENCE A GREAT REUNION IN HEAVEN WITH FAMILY MEMBERS AND FRIENDS WHO LOVE THE LORD! THE SHEER JOY THAT AWAITS US IS BEYOND OUR IMAGINATION! BE READY FOR HE IS NEAR!!

1Co 2:9, But as it is written: “EYE HAS NOT SEEN, NOR EAR HEARD, NOR HAVE ENTERED INTO THE HEART OF MAN THE THINGS WHICH GOD HAS PREPARED FOR THOSE WHO LOVE HIM.”

2Kings 7, HE is Able!

2Ki 7:1-2, Then Elisha said, “HEAR THE WORD OF THE LORD. THUS SAYS THE LORD: ‘TOMORROW ABOUT THIS TIME A SEAH OF FINE FLOUR SHALL BE SOLD FOR A SHEKEL, AND TWO SEAHS OF BARLEY FOR A SHEKEL, AT THE GATE OF SAMARIA.’ ” So an officer on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God and said, “Look, IF THE LORD WOULD MAKE WINDOWS IN HEAVEN, COULD THIS THING BE?” And he said, “In fact, you shall see it with your eyes, but you shall not eat of it.”

The Economic situation of Samaria will be inverted, from dire need to abundance! The LORD promised yet an officer doubted if the LORD was even capable of doing so a thing!

Mal 3:10, BRING ALL THE TITHES INTO THE STOREHOUSE, That there may be food in MY HOUSE, And try Me now in this,” Says the LORD of hosts, “IF I WILL NOT OPEN FOR YOU THE WINDOWS OF HEAVEN AND POUR OUT FOR YOU SUCH BLESSING THAT THERE WILL NOT BE ROOM ENOUGH TO RECEIVE IT. 

The LORD is faithful and HE rewards those who are faithful in giving to HIS house and to HIS work!  We may not see how or where from, but HE is able! NOTHING IS TOO HARD FOR THE LORD!  HE FEED ISRAEL FOR 40 YEARS, HE FEED THOUSANDS WITH 2 FISH AND 5 LOAVES OF BREAD! HE BROUGHT FORTH WATER FROM A ROCK! HOW CAN ANYTHING BE HARD FOR THE LORD?

Jer 32:27, “Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me? 

Job 42:2, “I know that You can do everything, And that no purpose of Yours can be withheld from You. 

HE IS ABLE, HE IS FAITHFUL, HE IS THE GOD OF ALL FLESH! STOP DOUBTING AND START BELIEVING!

2Kings 4, He can provide!

2Ki 4:1, A certain woman … cried out to Elisha, saying, “YOUR SERVANT MY HUSBAND IS DEAD, AND YOU KNOW THAT YOUR SERVANT FEARED THE LORD. AND THE CREDITOR IS COMING TO TAKE MY TWO SONS TO BE HIS SLAVES.

Her husband owed a debt and it’s about to be paid by using her 2 sons as slaves until the debt is paid off!

2Ki 4:2, So Elisha said to her, …. Tell me, WHAT DO YOU HAVE IN THE HOUSE?” And she said, “YOUR MAIDSERVANT HAS NOTHING IN THE HOUSE BUT A JAR OF OIL.” 

The LORD can use anything to bless a family ANYTHING, even a jar of oil!

2Ki 4:7, …”Go, sell the oil and pay your debt; and you and your sons live on the rest.” 

THAT SMALL JAR FILLED MANY, MANY JARS AND SHE WAS ABLE TO PAY HER DEBT AND LIVE OFF THE REST! WE CAN’T LIMIT GOD IN ANYWAY; HE CAN EVEN FEED THOUSANDS WITH JUST 5 LOVES OF BREAD AND 2 FISHES!

Mat 14:18, … “BRING THEM HERE TO ME.” 

HE BROUGHT WATER OUT OF A ROCK, FEED A MULTITUDE OF PEOPLE DAILY FOR 40 YEARS! NOTHING IS TO HARD FOR THE LORD IF WE BRING IT TO HIM! HE IS ABLE TO MULTIPLY WHAT WE HAVE!

Mat 17:27, … cast in a hook, and take the fish that comes up first. And when you have opened its mouth, you will find a piece of money; take that and give it to them for Me and you.”  Psa 86:10, FOR YOU ARE GREAT, AND DO WONDROUS THINGS; YOU ALONE ARE GOD

2Kings 2, faithful to the call!

2Ki 2:2, Then Elijah said to Elisha, “STAY HERE, PLEASE, for the LORD has sent me on to Bethel.” But Elisha said, “AS THE LORD LIVES, AND AS YOUR SOUL LIVES, I WILL NOT LEAVE YOU!” So they went down to Bethel.

Elijah was testing Elisha if he would stay faithful to the call of GOD by going with him all the way! He told Elijah to “STAY HERE, PLEASE” three times verses 2,4,6 But, he stayed with him!

2Ki 2:9, … when they had crossed over, that Elijah said to Elisha, “ASK! WHAT MAY I DO FOR YOU, BEFORE I AM TAKEN AWAY FROM YOU?” Elisha said, “PLEASE LET A DOUBLE PORTION OF YOUR SPIRIT BE UPON ME.

ELISHA SAW THE POWERFUL MINISTRY OF ELIJAH AND DESIRED A DOUBLE PORTION OF THAT! REMINDS ME OF JESUS WHEN HE WENT UP LEAVING HIS DISCIPLES!  THEY TOO WERE GIVEN THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT TO CONTINUE THE WORK OF GOD!

1Co 12:4-5, There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord.

THE LORD HAS GIVEN US GIFTS TO BE USED FOR THE GAIN OF HIS KINGDOM, BUT WE MUST RUN THE RACE TO THE END! NOT FOR RICHES, GLORY, POSITION OR ANYTHING ELSE BUT FOR HIS GLORY!

1Ti 5:17, Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and doctrine. 

Psa 34:10b, BUT THOSE WHO SEEK THE LORD SHALL NOT LACK ANY GOOD THING.

1Kings 19, a still small voice!

1Ki 19:4, …And he prayed that he might die, and said, IT IS ENOUGH! Now, LORD, take my life, FOR I AM NO BETTER THAN MY FATHERS!

Elijah believe that after that great show of power from the LORD when HE consumed the offering before all of Israel THAT ALL WILL COME RUNNING BACK TO THE LORD! YET NOW HE IS RUNNING FOR HIS LIFE!

1Ki 19:9, And there he went into a cave, and spent the night in that place; and behold, the word of the LORD came to him, and He said to him, “WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE, ELIJAH?”

Elijah thought he failed and was no better than his fathers before him. Also he thought that he was alone; no one else to the LORD could use? The began to teach Elijah some important!

1Kings 11-12, … and a GREAT AND STRONG WIND tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the LORD, BUT THE LORD WAS NOT IN THE WIND; and after the wind an EARTHQUAKE, BUT THE LORD WAS NOT IN THE EARTHQUAKE; and after the earthquake a FIRE, BUT THE LORD WAS NOT IN THE FIRE; AND AFTER THE FIRE A STILL SMALL VOICE.

WE OFTEN BELIEVE THAT A GREAT POWERFUL SIGNS FROM GOD WILL MOVE HEARTS TO RETURN TO THE LORD! YET IT DIDN’T WORK FOR ELIJAH! YES A FIRE CAME DOWN FROM HEAVEN AND CONSUMED THE OFFERING, BUT THAT DIDN’T BRING REPENTANCE TO ISRAEL!

Zec 4:6, ..’NOT BY MIGHT NOR BY POWER, BUT BY MY SPIRIT,’ SAYS THE LORD OF HOSTS. 

FAITH COMES FROM HEARING, AND HEARING THROUGH THE WORD OF CHRIST Rom 10:17. OFTEN IT’S JUST A STILL SMALL VOICE IN OUR HEARTS THAT IS GREATER TO TURN HEARTS THAN ANY EXTERNAL DISPLAY OF POWER!
