Proverbs 26, foolishness!

Pro 26:4, Do not answer a fool according to his folly, Lest you also be like him. 

When a fool pours out his foolishness it is best not to answer him. People may think that you’re as foolish as the fool!

Pro 26:5, Answer a fool according to his folly, Lest he be wise in his own eyes.

But, at times, it may the right thing to answer a fool; where wisdom may be heard! One may contradict the other, but a wise man studies, and knows when to answer!

Pro 15:28, THE HEART OF THE RIGHTEOUS STUDIES HOW TO ANSWER, But the mouth of the wicked pours forth evil.  

Pro 26:11, AS A DOG RETURNS TO HIS OWN VOMIT, SO A FOOL REPEATS HIS FOLLY.

There are many who leave the faith only to return to their previous sins (vomit)!

2Co 11:3, But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. 

Pro 26:12, DO YOU SEE A MAN WISE IN HIS OWN EYES? THERE IS MORE HOPE FOR A FOOL THAN FOR HIM.

Even more than a fool is a pride filled person who will not listen to anyone! He is wise in his own eyes!

Pro 16:18, Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall. 

Jas 4:6, …Therefore He says: “GOD RESISTS THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE.” 

Pro 26:20, WHERE THERE IS NO WOOD, THE FIRE GOES OUT; AND WHERE THERE IS NO TALEBEARER, STRIFE CEASES.

To a talebearer information about others is too juicy not to tell other talebearers; “do you know what she did…”, “can you believe that she…”.  REMEMBER GOD SEES ALL THAT YOU DO, YOUR NOT GETTING AWAY WITH IT!

Pro 26:22, THE WORDS OF A TALEBEARER ARE LIKE TASTY TRIFLES, AND THEY GO DOWN INTO THE INMOST BODY. 

Jas 3:6, AND THE TONGUE IS A FIRE, A WORLD OF INIQUITY. THE TONGUE IS SO SET AMONG OUR MEMBERS THAT IT DEFILES THE WHOLE BODY, AND SETS ON FIRE THE COURSE OF NATURE; AND IT IS SET ON FIRE BY HELL. 

IF THIS IS YOU THEN STOP; AT THE END YOUR ONLY HURTING YOURSELF!

Psalm 141, Prayer Pleases the LORD!

Psa 141:1, LORD, I CRY OUT TO YOU; MAKE HASTE TO ME! GIVE EAR TO MY VOICE WHEN I CRY OUT TO YOU. 

David’s first reaction to trouble is to go before the LORD in prayer. Most people today trust in their abilities, but when that goes wrong then they pray to GOD! While we asked the LORD to make haste, HE already knows what’s needed!

Isa 65:24, “It shall come to pass That before they call, I will answer; And while they are still speaking, I will hear.

Psa 141:2, LET MY PRAYER BE SET BEFORE YOU AS INCENSE, The lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice. 

David saw his prayers to GOD as a sweet-smelling aroma before the LORD. PRAYER PLEASES GOD JUST AS INCENSE HAS A PLEASING SMELL!

Rev 8:4, AND THE SMOKE OF THE INCENSE, WITH THE PRAYERS OF THE SAINTS, ASCENDED BEFORE GOD…

Praying in a private place pleases GOD for it shows that you truly believe in HIM and have faith that HE hears!

Psa 116:12-13, WHAT SHALL I RENDER TO THE LORD FOR ALL HIS BENEFITS TOWARD ME? I WILL TAKE UP THE CUP OF SALVATION, AND CALL UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD.

Psa 141:3, Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips. 

David knows that the tongue is hard, if not impossible to tame.

Jas 3:8, But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. 

How can we Pray before HIM and with that same tongue curse at someone else?

Jas 3:10, OUT OF THE SAME MOUTH PROCEED BLESSING AND CURSING. MY BRETHREN, THESE THINGS OUGHT NOT TO BE SO.

Sometimes I surprise myself by what comes out of my mouth; this is one of my struggles. But, I know without the LORD’s help I shall never overcome this problem!

Psa 25:4-5, Show me Your ways, O LORD; Teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; On You I wait all the day.

Psalm 120, the lying tongue!

Psa 120:1, IN MY DISTRESS I CRIED TO THE LORD, AND HE HEARD ME. 

Being in distress forces the believer to pray to the FATHER more earnestly! It doesn’t matter where you’re at HE can hear you!

Jon 2:2, And he said: “I cried out to the LORD because of my affliction, And He answered me. “OUT OF THE BELLY OF SHEOL I CRIED, AND YOU HEARD MY VOICE. 

JESUS knowing HIS time had come was in great agony, and sought a place to pray to HIS FATHER!

Luk 22:44, AND BEING IN AGONY, HE PRAYED MORE EARNESTLY. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

Psa 120:2-3, Deliver my soul, O LORD, FROM LYING LIPS AND FROM A DECEITFUL TONGUE. What shall be given to you, Or what shall be done to you, YOU FALSE TONGUE?

The psalmist knows the power of the tongue, how it can destroy, and manipulate a person!

Jas 3:5-6, EVEN SO THE TONGUE IS A LITTLE MEMBER AND BOASTS GREAT THINGS. See how GREAT A FOREST A LITTLE FIRE KINDLES! AND THE TONGUE IS A FIRE, A WORLD OF INIQUITY. THE TONGUE IS SO SET AMONG OUR MEMBERS THAT IT DEFILES THE WHOLE BODY, and SETS ON FIRE THE COURSE OF NATURE; AND IT IS SET ON FIRE BY HELL.

Even the chief priests of Israel sought people who would lie against JESUS our LORD!

Mat 26:59, Now the chief priests, the elders, and all the council SOUGHT FALSE TESTIMONY AGAINST JESUS TO PUT HIM TO DEATH,

The lying tongue is compared to a sharp sword in scripture

Psa 64:3, WHO SHARPEN THEIR TONGUE LIKE A SWORD, And bend their bows to shoot their arrows—BITTER WORDS, 

We must be watchful to what we say FOR IT COMES OUT OF OUR HEARTS!

Mar 7:15, There is nothing that enters a man from outside which can defile him; BUT THE THINGS WHICH COME OUT OF HIM, THOSE ARE THE THINGS THAT DEFILE A MAN. 

Psa 141:3-4 ,SET A GUARD, O LORD, OVER MY MOUTH; KEEP WATCH OVER THE DOOR OF MY LIPS.

Psalm 12, the tongue!

Psa 12:1, …HELP, LORD, FOR THE GODLY MAN CEASES! FOR THE FAITHFUL DISAPPEAR FROM AMONG THE SONS OF MEN. 

The men around David started to gossip speaking evil of him! SLOWLY BUT SURELY THESE ONCE FAITHFUL MEN NOW COULDN’T BE TRUSTED! BECAUSE OF THEIR TONGUE!

Psa 12:2, THEY SPEAK IDLY EVERYONE WITH HIS NEIGHBOR; WITH FLATTERING LIPS AND A DOUBLE HEART THEY SPEAK.

Psa 5:9, FOR THERE IS NO FAITHFULNESS IN THEIR MOUTH; THEIR INWARD PART IS DESTRUCTION; THEIR THROAT IS AN OPEN TOMB; THEY FLATTER WITH THEIR TONGUE.  

Even though the tongue is encased by strong bars of teeth, being held in place by the strong jaw, YET IT GETS OUT TO DO HARM! THE TONGUE HAS THE POWER TO DO GOOD OR EVIL; IT’S EITHER CONTROLLED BY GOD OR BY SIN!

Pro 15:4, A WHOLESOME TONGUE IS A TREE OF LIFE, BUT PERVERSENESS IN IT BREAKS THE SPIRIT. 

Col 4:6, LET YOUR SPEECH ALWAYS BE WITH GRACE, SEASONED WITH SALT, that you may know how you ought to answer each one. 

Psa 12:3-4, MAY THE LORD CUT OFF ALL FLATTERING LIPS, AND THE TONGUE THAT SPEAKS PROUD THINGS, Who have said, “With our tongue we will prevail; Our lips are our own; WHO IS LORD OVER US?”

THE LORD WILL ONE DAY CUT OFF THE LYING AND PERVERSE TONGUE WHO SPREADS OUT RUMORS AND GOSSIP! THESE PEOPLE ALL HAVE ONE THING IN COMMON, THEY DO NOT KNOW GOD!

Jer 9:3, “AND LIKE THEIR BOW THEY HAVE BENT THEIR TONGUES FOR LIES. They are not valiant for the truth on the earth. For they proceed from evil to evil, AND THEY DO NOT KNOW ME,” SAYS THE LORD. 

YET IN CONTRAST, THE WORDS OF THE LORD!

Psa 12:6-7, THE WORDS OF THE LORD ARE PURE WORDS, LIKE SILVER TRIED IN A FURNACE OF EARTH, PURIFIED SEVEN TIMES. YOU SHALL KEEP THEM, O LORD, YOU SHALL PRESERVE THEM FROM THIS GENERATION FOREVER.

DO YOU KNOW THE LORD? DO YOU SEEK FOR JUICY GOSSIP FROM ONE TO SPREAD TO OTHERS; OR DO YOU SEEK THE LORDS WORDS? IT’S A CHOICE! CHOOSE WISELY!
